The Iranian president, Ebrahim Raisi, has urged the BRICS countries to condemn Israel as a “terrorist” state and to support the Palestinian cause. Raisi made the remarks in a video conference with the leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa on Tuesday, according to the Iranian state media.
Raisi accused Israel of committing “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity” in its attacks on Gaza and the occupied West Bank. He also called for an international investigation into Israel’s alleged violations of human rights and international law. He said that the BRICS countries should use their influence to end the “siege” of Gaza and to help the Palestinians achieve their “inalienable rights” to self-determination and statehood.
