VANOUHI (KILEJIAN) MARGOSSIAN

Vanouhi (Kilejian) Margossian passed away at the age of 75 in Washington, D.C. on May 17, 2024, from complications of renal failure and cancer.

Vanouhi was born on February 8, 1949 in Aleppo, Syria, but was raised in Beirut, Lebanon, and was the eldest of four siblings. She lived in the town of Jounieh with her family and attended Melkonian Educational Institute in Cyprus for the best year of her childhood. She loved to learn, spend time with her friends, and listen to The Beetles. At the age of 12, she began working to support her family. In 1976, Vania met her husband, Harout, and shortly after, they married and had their first daughter, Tsoghig, in 1979. That year, they moved to the United States and settled in Los Angeles. There, Vania cared for her daughter and later gave birth to her two sons, Hovig and Sahak. In the early 1990s, she joined her husband in their jewelry store, using her talents in sales and skills for spotting the latest trends to grow the company. In 2009, Vania and Harout decided to move to Alexandria, VA, to be near their daughter and grandchildren. Vania loved to travel, cook, and, most of all, spend time with her family. Throughout her life, she remained a deeply devoted mother.

Vania is survived by her husband, Harout Margossian of Silver Spring, MD; daughter Tsoghig Hekimian and Chris Hekimian, and their children Van and Soseh, Bethesda, MD; son Hovig and Christine Margossian and their children Zella and Miles, Los Angeles, CA; son Sahak and Emily Margossian and their child Leia Gothenburg, Sweden; brother Nazar and Roubina Kalajian of Houston, TX; and sister Ani Kielwasser of Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents Marie Semerjian and her brother Vahe Kaladjian.

Funeral services will be held on Friday June 7 at 12 p.m. at the Old North Church (Red Church) in Hollywood Hills Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Armenian Relief Society, or Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church in Bethesda, MD.
