The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has accused Israeli forces of deliberately targeting humanitarian aid convoys in Gaza City, as the Israeli bombardment of the besieged enclave continues for the 18th day.

In a statement on Tuesday, the PRCS said that two trucks carrying medical supplies from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) were damaged by Israeli strikes, and the driver was lightly wounded.

The PRCS also said that four of its emergency workers were injured by shrapnel from Israeli missiles while they were trying to evacuate wounded civilians from the Shujaiya neighborhood, where a “massacre” took place on Monday night.

According to the Palestinian health ministry, at least 42 people, including 16 children and 10 women, were killed and more than 200 were injured in the Israeli attack on Shujaiya, which is home to about 100,000 people.

The PRCS called on the international community to intervene and protect the humanitarian workers and civilians in Gaza, and to ensure the delivery of essential supplies, such as fuel, food and water.

The PRCS also urged the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution to end the Israeli aggression and lift the blockade on Gaza, which has been under Israeli siege since 2007.
