Tehran residents burned a banner depicting U.S. President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff during a rally in the Iranian capital on Wednesday. The state-organised gathering at Enghelab Square marked the anniversary of the 1979 seizure of the U.S. embassy in Tehran, when Iranian students held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days. The rally took place as Iran’s government responded to the Republican Party’s losses in the U.S. midterm elections. Two senior Iranian sources told Reuters that the country’s leadership remained concerned about the possibility of renewed U.S. military action.
