U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran wants to reach a deal to end the eight-month war with the United States. Speaking on Monday, Trump claimed that Iran’s military capabilities had been severely weakened, saying its navy and air force had been destroyed and its missile capacity significantly reduced. He also claimed the country was facing inflation of more than 300%. Iran said contacts with Washington aimed at ending the conflict were continuing, following several days of talks with Qatari mediators that produced revised proposals but no breakthrough.
