Two leaders of India’s youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) have been ordered to spend five days in jail after they were detained during a protest in New Delhi.
Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were among protesters who entered the grounds of Jantar Mantar after scaling barricades and demanding the resignation of Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The CJP is protesting changes to voter lists that critics say could favour Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s BJP, allegations rejected by the Election Commission and BJP.
