Record participation expected at U17 Wrestling World Championships in Baku

The upcoming U17 Wrestling World Championships in Baku will set a record for the past 20 years, said Parvin Piriyev, Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AWF), Report informs.

Piriyev highlighted that the tournament has already registered a record number of athletes and participants over the last two decades: “Everyone wants to come to Azerbaijan. This is the result of our state’s sports policy.”

The Secretary General then wished success to the athletes and offered them his advice.

The U17 Wrestling World Championships will be held from July 27 to August 2 at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku.

According to the final participant list approved by the United World Wrestling (UWW), the prestigious competition will host 663 athletes, 272 coaches, and 64 international referees.

In total, more than 1,100 visitors will arrive in Azerbaijan for the World Championships.
