At least 40 people were killed and some others injured on Sunday evening in Israel’s bombing of tents in northwestern Rafah, the southernmost city of the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian official news agency WAFA reported.

Israeli forces targeted the tents of displaced people near the warehouses of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) there, WAFA added.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said on social media platform X that the shelling has resulted in numerous casualties, and many have been transported to a clinic and field hospitals near the sea in Rafah.

Currently, numerous individuals remain trapped under the flames and in the tents destroyed by the bombardment, the PRCS added.
