Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said it is “closely monitoring” the situation in the Middle East with “deep concern” after U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran and retaliatory attacks from Tehran across the region, including against U.S. military bases.
“We emphasise the importance of diplomatic efforts to achieve de-escalation and ensure stability in the region,” the statement added.
The MFA issued this statement on the evening of February 28, advising Georgian citizens to “follow the official guidance and take all necessary precautions to ensure their safety,” adding that the Georgian embassies in the region “remain fully operational and ready to assist Georgian citizens as needed.”
Iran launched retaliatory attacks across the Middle East in response to U.S. and Israeli strikes across its territory targeting its leadership sites. The Iranian attacks were reported in Dubai, Doha, Bahrain, and Kuwait, where the U.S. or those allied to the U.S. have military bases.
