On January 31, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made a phone call to President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, News.Az reports.
During the conversation, the sides reaffirmed that relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are built upon the principles of friendship, brotherhood, and good-neighborliness, underscored by the deep historical, ethnic, and religious bonds shared by their peoples.
During the phone call, the heads of state reflected favorably on the Iranian President’s previous visits to Azerbaijan and the productive negotiations held during their meetings, noting that these high-level interactions have significantly contributed to the development of bilateral relations. They also highlighted that the construction of the Aghband-Kelaleh highway bridge over the Araz River is proceeding according to schedule.
The head of state expressed concern regarding the current situation in the region, stating that Azerbaijan is ready to contribute to de-escalating tensions. He emphasized that Azerbaijan advocates for resolving such issues through dialogue and mutual understanding.
For his part, President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev.
During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on various aspects of the friendly and brotherly ties between the two countries and on future joint steps. They agreed to continue further contacts.

Morocco has deployed army rescue units to help with the evacuation of thousands of people after floods triggered by torrential rains and rising river levels hit parts of the country’s northwest, state TV reported on Saturday, News.Az reports, citing Reuters.
Weeks of heavy rainfall, combined with water releases from a nearly full dam nearby, increased water levels in the Loukous River and flooded several neighbourhoods in the city of Ksar Kbir, about 190 km (118 miles) north of the capital Rabat, a national flood follow-up committee said.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov met with NATO Senior Representative in Ukraine Patrick Turner and Lieutenant General Curtis Bazard, commander of NATO’s Special Mission for Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine and commander of the Ukraine Security Assistance Group (NSATU/SAG-U), according to Ministry of Defense, News.az reports, citing Telegraph.
Mykhailo Fedorov thanked NATO for its consistent support and effective coordination of critical defense assistance, particularly within the framework of the Ukraine Defense Pact, through which Ukraine receives the necessary ammunition for air defense.
The key priority now is to protect the sky, and to this end, Ukraine is transforming its “small” air defense system.
