Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that there will be no war with Azerbaijan, while stressing that Armenia will continue to develop its army and strengthen its defense capabilities, Azernews reports.

Tonight, the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) will announce its first interest rate decision of 2026. The decision will be released at 11:00 p.m. Baku time, followed by a press conference at 11:30 p.m., where Chairman Jerome Powell will answer questions from journalists. Economists and market participants widely expect the Fed to keep rates unchanged in the 3.5%–3.75% range. While this may sound routine, the implications are anything but: the Fed’s rate policy sends powerful signals to the U.S. economy, global financial markets, and the dollar itself. Interest rates shape investment flows, currency valuations, and bond markets worldwide.

A delegation of U.S. Congress staff is visiting Georgia as part of a regional trip, the U.S. Embassy in Georgia reported on January 28.

“The delegation members will meet with Georgian officials and opposition leaders,” the Embassy said, adding, “They will also visit a settlement for displaced persons in Tserovani to learn more about the situation in Georgia.”

The visit comes amid lingering uncertainty over bilateral relations. The United States under President Joe Biden suspended strategic partnership with Georgia on November 30, 2024, and sanctioned Georgian Dream founder and honorary chairman Bidzina Ivanishvili a month later. Since then, Washington under Donald Trump has remained largely silent toward Tbilisi, despite Georgian Dream’s claims of “shared values” and stated efforts to reset relations “from a clean slate.”

In February, Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to travel to Armenia and Azerbaijan to advance the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, a peace agreement reached between the two countries in August. The trip will not include Georgia.
