Thanks to a binding agreement with Eni, SOCAR will buy a 10% stake in the Baleine project, described as the Ivorian main offshore development operated by the Italian giant (operator, 47.25%) in partnership with Vitol (30%) and Petroci (22.75%). The closing of this transaction is subject to appropriate regulatory approvals and other customary terms and conditions.
The Baleine field was discovered in 2021, two decades after the last commercial discovery in the country, and achieved production in 2023. The sale aligns with the operator’s strategy of optimizing its upstream portfolio by accelerating the monetization of exploration discoveries through the divestment of equity stakes, a model known as the “dual exploration model.”
The agreement is also consistent with the broader collaboration between the two companies, which signed three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in 2024, with a focus on energy security to expand cooperation in hydrocarbon exploration and production, as well as greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction and the biofuel production chain.
Baleine, which is Eni’s first development in Côte d’Ivoire, is perceived to be the first net-zero emission development in Africa. Currently, the project produces over 62,000 barrels of oil and more than 75 million cubic feet of gas per day from Phases 1 and 2.
With the launch of Phase 3, production is expected to rise to 150,000 barrels of oil and 200 million cubic feet of gas per day, said to position Baleine as a cornerstone in meeting the country’s domestic energy needs.
This divestment comes shortly after Eni’s inauguration ceremony for its second floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) unit destined for the Rovuma basin offshore Mozambique.
Baku’s Caspian Sea waterfront is about 19 miles southeast of Sumgayit Industrial Park, where ACWA Power plans Azerbaijan’s first large-scale seawater desalination facility.
Azerbaijan’s first large-scale seawater desalination plant is set to be built by Saudi-based ACWA Power, under a recently signed $400-million public-private partnership agreement. It is a rare Caspian Sea project for the water and power contractor and a milestone for the country’s water sector.
ACWA Power announced Dec. 26 that it executed a design-build-finance-own-operate-maintain concession with Azerbaijan’s state water authority, the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency, under a 27.5-year term. The project company will be wholly owned by ACWA Power at signing, with additional details to be announced at financial close.
ACWA Power plans to develop the country’s first large-scale seawater desalination plant at Sumgayit, located near the capitol of Baku, under a $400-million P3 deal.

The planned facility would be located at Sumgayit Industrial Park, about 19 miles northwest of the capital, Baku, along the Caspian coast.
The site places the project within Azerbaijan’s primary coastal industrial and population corridor, serving the Baku metropolitan area—including the Absheron Peninsula—which has a population of about 3.2–3.3 million, according to Azerbaijan’s state statistics and United Nations urban data. Azerbaijan’s total population is roughly 10.2 million, according to official national statistics and World Bank data.
Azerbaijani government-linked reporting, citing ACWA Power and water-agency officials, has indicated a planned capacity of about 300,000 cu m per day. At full output, the plant could supply roughly 2 million people at typical urban consumption levels, underscoring its potential role as a stabilizing water source for the Baku–Absheron corridor rather than a marginal supplement.
The project is advancing as independent scientific assessments have flagged long-term water-supply risks in the Caspian region. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and NASA have identified rising temperatures and evaporation—not short-term hydrology—as the dominant drivers of sustained water-level declines in the world’s largest enclosed inland sea.
A peer-reviewed study published in Nature Communications projects continued declines under most warming scenarios, while World Bank water-sector reviews for Azerbaijan have cited the trend as a growing constraint on coastal infrastructure and municipal supply planning.
The next key milestones for the desalination project will be the financial close and EPC disclosure, which will clarify whether the project is delivered under a single EPC wrap or multiple construction packages.
Intake and outfall design, power sourcing and energy intensity will be among the most consequential technical decisions, given the Caspian Sea’s shallow coastal conditions and the facility’s scale. Those elements are typically finalized shortly before a notice to proceed on comparable desalination P3s.
Power-supply arrangements, including grid connection and energy-intensity assumptions, have not been disclosed, nor have financing arrangements, lenders or a construction notice-to-proceed date. ACWA Power said those details will be provided after financial close.
Azerbaijani officials have previously indicated that multiple agreements tied to the desalination program were executed in 2025, including land-use and state-support instruments, positioning the plant as a flagship water-security investment. The facility is expected to be transferred to the state water agency at the end of the concession term, according to Azerbaijan-based reporting.

The Legion 7 could eventually be available with an Nvidia N1X chipset. (Image source: Lenovo)
Lenovo has officially mentioned its first Nvidia N1X gaming laptop. A new Legion 7 machine, the unreleased laptop has allegedly been spotted alongside Nvidia N1V laptops too.
More unreleased laptops powered by Nvidia N1x APUs have turned up in fresh leaks. To recap, rumours emerged in October that Dell was working towards delivering an N1X-powered Alienware gaming laptop this year.
The Nvidia N1X is rumoured to feature 10 Cortex-X925 and 10 Cortex-A725 CPU cores with a 6,144-CUDA core Blackwell generation GPU. (Image source: Lenovo – edited)
Now, Lenovo has hinted that an Nvidia N1X-powered version of the Legion 7 is on the way, too. Spotted by Huang514613, Lenovo refreshed the Legion 7 series less than a month ago with AMD Ryzen AI 400 APUs and Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 laptop GPUs. Although the website does not explicitly state as much, the model number Legion 7 15N1X11 highlighted below can be decoded as a 15-inch and 11th Generation model powered by an N1X processor.
The same source also mentions that Lenovo is developing at least one other Nvidia N1X-based laptop. Specifically, they report that the Yoga Pro 7 15NX11 is in the works too alongside the IdeaPad Slim 5 14N1V11, IdeaPad Slim 5 16N1V11 and the Yoga Pro 7 15N1V11. From these names, it would seem that Nvidia has developed an N1V chipset as well. More evidence about these laptops yet and the Nvidia N1V has not emerged yet, though.

PS5 and Xbox consoles shown with Fable background (Image source: Xbox Gaming, Sony PlayStation with edits)
Some first-party Xbox games like Forza Horizon 6 still have periods of exclusivity before coming to the PS5. In a new interview, the Xbox head discusses when and if that will change. Microsoft may decide day-one availability on a case-by-case basis, with the size of studios playing a role.
The Xbox Developer Direct announced that the Fable reboot will debut in the fall on multiple platforms. However, Forza Horizon 6 is launching as an Xbox exclusive before arriving on the PS5. Confused Series X|S owners are wondering if the console will still have platform-specific benefits. GamesRadar talked to Xbox lead Craig Duncan, who tried to clarify Microsoft’s strategy.
Limited platform exclusivity persists
Duncan was asked about how Microsoft determines which titles will ship day one on other systems. Echoing the comments of CEO Phil Spencer, he said, “We want our games to reach the most players that we can.”
He acknowledged that porting Sea of Thieves and Forza Horizon 5 to PlayStation expanded their audiences. Yet even as 2026 begins, certain projects arrive initially as Xbox exclusives. The executive admitted that its cross-platform approach is not always consistent.
Factors like the amount of resources studios have can affect release dates. Developers also need extra time to optimize games for different systems. For instance, the DualSense controller offers unique and immersive haptic feedback. Even so, that hasn’t prevented the competition from immediately accommodating multiple consoles.
Other reasons for Xbox to delay PS5 ports
Forza Horizon 6 and the Fable reboot are both being overseen by Playground Games. It’s possible that even the well-funded developers couldn’t pull off a day one release for Xbox consoles, PC, and PS5. Still, Microsoft could want to preserve an incentive for racing game fans to subscribe to Game Pass.
Duncan reveals that the publisher will “maintain optionality” when deciding which platforms to prioritize. According to the Xbox head, “Some games we might go PC first, others we might go console first.” He references Grounded 2, but an early-access title may not be the best example.
Sadly, the interview may not leave fans with a clearer vision of Microsoft’s plans. The article notes that the publisher already brought six first-party Xbox games to the rival PS5 in 2025. That number will likely continue to grow, but when temporary exclusivity might die completely is up for debate.

Citizen has officially launched the CA4716-50L within its Chrono Racing line. The watch utilizes the solar-powered B620 movement and a 39.5 mm stainless steel case, the model will retail for €219/S$523.20 (approx. $411 USD).
Citizen’s Eco-Drive collection is getting a new Chrono Racing CA4716-50L model, a watch that has a motor-racing-inspired design with established solar-quartz technology. Measuring 39.5 mm in diameter and 12.3 mm in thickness, the stainless steel case is sized for a mid-range profile that should be more versatile overall, as compared to the larger footprints often found in aviation or racing chronographs. The dial design is the main differentiator for this reference, featuring a deep blue base with vertical striping and a three-sub-dial layout.
The mechanical performance of the CA4716-50L is driven by the Caliber B620 Eco-Drive movement. As a light-powered caliber, it converts both natural and artificial light into energy, and can maintain a power reserve of approximately 9 months on a full charge under normal use conditions. The movement features a 1/5-second chronograph capable of measuring up to 60 minutes, a 24-hour sub-dial for AM/PM distinction, and a date window positioned between the 4 and 5 o’clock markers. The B620 also has an insufficient charge warning and an overcharge prevention function.
From a technical construction standpoint, the watch utilizes a mineral crystal for the dial window. While mineral glass does provide higher impact resistance than sapphire, but it is still more more susceptible to surface abrasions in a racing or daily-wear context. The CA4716-50L has a water resistance rating of 10 ATM (100 meters), which makes it suitable for swimming and surface aquatic activities. The package also gets a matching stainless steel bracelet with a secure closure. In the Singapore market, the model is priced at S$523.20, which converts to approximately $411.08 USD. On third-party EU channels like Larrabe, the watch is priced at 219 euros.

Key Facts
Thousands of demonstrators marched the streets of downtown Minneapolis, according to CBS Minnesota, which noted community members called for a “Day of Truth and Freedom” that involved no work, school or shopping.
Temperatures were below zero degrees Fahrenheit in the afternoon, reaching around -9, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a cold weather advisory through Saturday morning that warns of wind chill values between 25 and 35 degrees below zero.
An economic blackout was also encouraged in Minneapolis by demonstrators, with hundreds of small businesses expected to close their doors Friday in solidarity.

Key Background
Protests in Minnesota have persisted for weeks following Good’s death, which the Trump administration has largely justified by claiming she was trying to run over the agent who shot her. Officials like Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey have rejected those claims, pointing to video of the shooting where Good could be seen turning the wheel right, away from the agent, who was in front of the left side of her car before the shooting occurred. ICE has ramped up its presence in Minnesota despite public backlash, increasing immigration operations and recently launching another operation in Maine, where protesters have also voiced their frustration.

IndyCar officials confirmed Friday evening the series has been in ongoing discussions with President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy about an IndyCar Series race around the National Mall in Washington, DC for August 23.
An IndyCar spokesman told me that while discussions are ongoing, there is still a long way to go before it becomes a reality. He gave me the following statement:
“We are actively exploring the feasibility of a race in the nation’s capital in recognition of America’s 250th birthday. This would be an opportunity to celebrate a historic milestone for our country with an exciting and patriotic event. As you can imagine, clearing all the hurdles necessary to organize a race in Washington D.C. is a highly complex matter.”
The centerpiece of the NTT IndyCar Series is the famed Indianapolis 500, which will be held for the 110th time on May 24 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
IndyCar Has Some High-Powered Support
The IndyCar confirmation came a few hours after President Trump released a post along with an AI-generated video of a race around the most famous monuments in America’s Capital City on Truth Social. The video featured fans around the National Mall and drivers speeding through a Washington, D.C., street course.
FOX News released a story on its website Friday afternoon confirming a report from FOX Business that the Department of Transportation is pushing to have an additional race added to the 2026 NTT IndyCar Series Schedule as part of the America250 Celebration.
“The Grand Prix is an unprecedented opportunity to celebrate our nation’s proud racing pedigree, showcase the beauty of the National Mall and generate millions in critical tourism revenue for the capital,” a Department of Transportation spokesperson said in the FOX Business report. “The Trump Administration is determined to make D.C. great again, and this race is another example of that commitment. We’ll keep working with our partners in Congress to outline the positive impacts it will have on the District and correct the record.”

The date being considered is August 21, the only open weekend on IndyCar’s August schedule in 2026. The prior Sunday IndyCar will be in Markham, Ontario for the August 16 Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham. The next race on the schedule after that event is the Snap-On Milwaukee IndyCar doubleheader with races on August 29 and August 30.
Major Issue That Has To Be Addressed
There is a major obstacle, however. Advertising on Capitol grounds is forbidden. It is not clear exactly where the track would be located, but the video Trump posted featured the Capitol, Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial.
According to Punchbowl News, a website that covers the United States Congress, Speaker Mike Johnson, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer have been notified of the plans.
If House of Representative and Senate leaders approve, it would be the second major sporting event held in the nation’s capital as part of America250, along with a UFC event scheduled for June 14 at the White House. That is also President Trump’s 80th birthday.
According to FOX News, UFC CEO and President Dana White is not concerned a planned White House fight card marking America’s 250th anniversary would be “too political,” saying that “just about everybody on the roster” wants to compete.
If IndyCar is successful in adding an 18th race to its schedule, it would be a huge boon for the racing series with the potential for a large crowd and increased television rating for the high-speed racing series.
But in Washington, D.C., there are some monumental political hurdles to overcome before an IndyCar Series race becomes a reality.
