France’s turn to private armies risks tearing Western alliance apart


In recent months, amid growing fractures within the European Union and against the backdrop of the Ukraine-Russia war, a range of new interpretations has emerged regarding NATO and the Western camp. France’s increasing drive towards militarisation and the legalisation of private military structures now openly signals Paris’s intention to challenge cohesion within the Western alliance, including NATO, an organisation that is over seventy years old.

Georgia’s Foreign Trade Up 9.5% in January-November 2025


Georgia’s external merchandise trade, excluding non-declared trade, totaled USD 23.2 billion in January-November 2025, marking a 9.5% increase compared to the same period last year, the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) said on December 19.

Exports grew by 10.1% to USD 6.6 billion, while imports rose 9.3% to USD 16.6 billion. The trade deficit amounted to USD 9.9 billion, accounting for 43% of the total external trade turnover.

Kyrgyzstan remained Georgia’s top export destination with USD 1.3 billion, followed by Kazakhstan at USD 849.9 million and Russia at USD 672.5 million. Geostat noted that the ten largest export partners accounted for 79.1% of total exports.

Motor cars continued to dominate export revenues at USD 2.6 billion, accounting for 39.6% of all exports. Precious metal ores and concentrates ranked second at USD 339.6 million (5.1%), followed by spirits at USD 256.4 million (3.9%).

On the import side, the United States and Turkey were the leading partners, each with USD 2.49 billion, followed by China at USD 1.8 billion. The top ten import partners accounted for 71% of total imports.

Motor vehicles also topped import commodities at USD 3.5 billion (21.3%), followed by petroleum and petroleum oils at USD 1.2 billion (7.4%). Pharmaceuticals in measured doses ranked third at USD 605.3 million, ammounting 3.6% of imports.
