On August 19, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Jared Cohen, President of Global Affairs of The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. During the meeting, the two sides recalled with satisfaction their earlier encounter at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2025. The discussion highlighted that cooperation between Azerbaijan and The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. has been effectively maintained since 2010, with particular appreciation for the successful partnership of the State Oil Fund with the company.

The U.S. administration intends to provide American energy companies with approximately 20 tons of plutonium, previously part of decommissioned nuclear warheads, for potential use as fuel in nuclear power plants, Azernews reports, citing international media outlets.
