Trinidad and Tobago: UNC slams PNM over $530 Billion spending, asks “Where Did the Money Go?”

The Opposition Party of Trinidad and Tobago, United National Congress leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar slammed the People’s National Movement for spending over $530 billion. She taunted them, saying that the PNM Government has money for everything else except to pay workers, who are working for the growth and welfare of the nation.

The UNC leader also accused the PNM Government of pushing the narrative against workers and the policies which are intended to make life affordable for the citizens of the country. She further continued, saying that the promises made by PNM never materialized.

“You know what is that? Over half a trillion dollars they have spent. More than any other government in our history has ever spent. Half a trillion dollars. Where did that money go? Stop and ask yourself, where did that money go? Because you can’t see it. You can’t touch it. You can’t taste it. Nowhere where did half a trillion dollars go,” noted Kamla-Persad Bissessar.

The Opposition leader also encouraged the workers and their families to hold the PNM responsible for increasing crime in Trinidad and Tobago. She further added that they should also hold the PNM responsible for the high cost of living. She also asked them to blame the PNM for wiping off over 60,000 small businesses.

“You must hold the PNM responsible and Stuart Young himself for the 4% insult to the workers of this country. Workers and families must hold the PNM responsible for cutting benefits to your children. Remember that any government that will go to take milk out of the mouth of your babies do not even deserve to be listened to. Vote them out. Vote them out,” said Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

She continued and said, “Workers and families must hold them responsible for property tax, electricity and water rate increases, fuel price increases. Workers and families must hold the PNM responsible for cutting the benefits to children and laptops. Remember those? Textbooks, gate, school feeding. But the worst of all which I just said is a baby grant.”

The UNC leader further shared her vision for Trinidad and Tobago and said that they have 12 key strategic prosperity engines focusing on key development areas to help Trinidad and Tobago in the economic diversification trust. She added that the UNC is committed to make a better place for the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. She noted that they are looking forward to serving the people of the nation in a better and prosperous manner.
