On March 26, the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Aleppo was visited by the
Consul General of Turkey in Aleppo, Muammer Hakan Cengiz, visited the Armenian Consulate General in Aleppo.
Welcoming the guests, Armenia’s Consul General in Aleppo, Ara Avetisyan, congratulated Muammer Hakan Cengiz on the reopening of the Turkish Consulate after a long break and on the occasion of his appointment to that position and the month of Ramadan.
He informed that the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia has been operating in Aleppo for more than 30 years and has never stopped its activities since its establishment, even during the siege and war in Aleppo.
Ara Avetisyan expressed gratitude for the support of the Turkish side in the recent transfer of humanitarian aid from Armenia to Syria and the unhindered passage of the convoy through that country.
Expressing gratitude for the reception, Cengiz noted that, based on the rules of diplomatic ethics, he considered it his duty to visit the only diplomatic representation operating in Aleppo and get to know his Armenian counterpart.
The Consul General of Armenia wished his Turkish counterpart success in his difficult mission. At the end of the meeting, Cengiz expressed his warm gratitude for the reception and invited Ara Avetisyan to the opening of the Turkish Consulate General. The invitation was accepted. The parties agreed to continue cooperation.
Russian police and Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) have found a collection of ancient gold coins on the one of the antique markets in Moscow, Russian Interior Ministry reported.
After historical expertise made by Russian State Historical Museum and consultations with Interpol, it was confirmed that this collection of 79 coins was stolen a while ago from the archeology and art museum in Saint-Remy in the city of Reims, France.
“Foreign colleagues confirmed the theft of gold coins, including rare ancient coins minted from the 1st to 5th century AD. The museum guard responsible for the theft was convicted. However, the stolen items were never recovered until now,” Russian Interior Ministry’s Spokeswoman Irina Volk said in a statement published.
The approximate value of found collection is about 55 million rubles (around €607 200), Russian Police said. Now Russian authorities are in touch with French colleagues on returning the collection to its permanent display in Saint-Remy.
