Four Georgian Clinics receive international KTQ accreditation

Georgia: Four state-owned clinics of Georgia received the international accreditation in compliance with the KTQ standards from the German audit organization “Cooperation for Transparency and Quality in Healthcare.”

Along with the international accreditation from KTQ, the German audit organization awarded the clinics with a KTQ certificate, confirming the high-quality service, patient and staff orientation, safety and risk management, information and communication as well as quality management in line with the international standards.

The four Georgian clinics are:

  • Tengiz Tsertsvadze Center for Infectious Pathology and AIDS,
  • National Center for Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases,
  • Rukhi Republic Hospital
  • Batumi Republic Hospital

On the occasion of this accreditation, on February 12, 2025, Wednesday, the Georgian Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze met Ronald Neubauer, the Director of the worldwide accreditation organization KTQ, together with Deputy Minister Tea Giorgadze.

The Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health and Social Welfare also shared glimpses of the meeting, with a short note, on its official Facebook page. The Ministry also congratulated the clinics on the significant recognition and wished them success through his social media post.

According to the Ministry’s note, it should be noted that the parties discussed the current state of affairs in Georgia and the significance of international standards in the healthcare industry. Mikheil Sarjveladze thanked the director of KTQ for his fruitful cooperation with the healthcare sector, especially with government clinics.

According to the Minister, providing medical services and patient safety is one of the priorities of the state. As the head of the institution noted, in this process, the state is the one who sets an example for the private sector, which is proved by the granting international KTQ accreditation to clinics in the Ministry’s system.

The parties also discussed cooperation. As mentioned in the meeting, working together is important for effective management of processes in the future.

It should be noted that the absolute majority of clinics included in the state programs have already obtained international accreditation. Given that some parts of the institution are unable to fully fulfill their obligations to provide citizens with geographical or profile access to emergency medical services, they have been given a period of relief.
