The US Postal Service (USPS) says it has stopped accepting parcels from mainland China and Hong Kong until further notice, the BBC reports.

Letters will not be affected by the suspension, according to a statement on the company’s website.

USPS did not offer a reason for the decision but it comes after US President Donald Trump imposed an additional 10% tariff on all goods imported to the US from China.

Trump’s executive order also eliminated an exemption that allowed goods worth $800 (£641) or less to enter the US without having to pay duties or certain taxes.

The state commissioner Papuna Margvelidze has recently discussed many developmental issues of region. The also reviews the plan for proposed projects in 2025.

In this meeting held with southern services major and important socio-economic, infrastructural projects and programs implemented in the region in 2024 were discussed in detail.

At the working meeting, Papuna Margvelidze presented a presentation to the Southern Services, discussing in detail important projects, programs and achievements implemented in the region in different directions.

The conversation was also held about large-scale works for the development of road infrastructure, during which the rehabilitation works of 27 km of Kutaisi-Alpana-Mamisoni road were completed last year, as well as 110 km of road in the direction of Lentekhi Mestia were implemented.

In total, in 2024 75 projects were implemented to improve road infrastructure in villages of which the total amount of  21 009, 844.1 GEL was spent. It is worth to note that the significant measures were taken to improve water supply, throughout the region, 20 water supply system projects were implemented with a total cost of 2 432 640, 72 GEL in this regard the active work process is still ongoing.

It is also to be noted that the gasification works are actively continuing throughout the country, which is being  carried out by the ministry of economy, the Georgian Gas Transport Company, based on the appropriate provisions of the Georgian Government.

At the same time within the framework of this state program, 120 000 long-meter feeding gas pipeline will be built in Tsageri and Lentekhi municipalities. On the other hand officials also summarized the work carried out in terms of healthcare, agriculture, tourism, culture and other important spheres and talked about future events.

As Papuna Margvelidze at the end of meeting said that the  active work will continue in all directions, so that 2025 will be even more fruitful and fruitful.
