Azerbaijan’s COP29 Presidency is making a profound impact on global climate dialogue with the Baku Initiative for Climate Finance, Investment, and Trade (BICFIT) Dialogue. This pioneering platform, introduced as part of Azerbaijan’s leadership at COP29, represents a collaborative effort between the United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the UN Development Program (UNDP), and international institutions such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Trade Center (ITC), and the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP) Presidencies.
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has provided in local currency funding to Azerbaijan’s leading financial institution, Bank Respublika, in order to increase access to finance for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), low-income households and support climate financing initiatives in the country, Azernews reports, citing IFC.
