On Georgia’s Independence Day, thousands of demonstrators called on the ruling Georgian Dream party to withdraw the controversial “foreign agent” law, which is seen as mirroring legislation used in Russia to silence critics and crush opposition. Demonstrators can be seen waving the European Union flag to show their support to continue Georgia’s drive to join the Euro-Atlantic community, something the new law is said to threaten.
