“Hosting the COP29 in Azerbaijan is not accidental at all. The President of Azerbaijan considers climate change mitigation as a top priority policy,” said Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev as he addressed the “Enhancing Ambition, Enabling Action: COP29 Sustainable Business Forum”, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting AzerTac.
“Today, climate changes are causing major issues in various countries, preventing the development of business and the economy in general,” he noted.
Mukhtar Babayev also pointed out that Azerbaijan remains committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent by 2030.
“At the same time, Azerbaijan is implementing major measures and attracting investments for the transition to green energy. The country plays a key role in Europe’s energy supply, and it is planning to export the produced energy to Europe. Azerbaijan is currently preparing a draft law on decarbonization,” the minister added.

On Friday, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Health Teymur Musayev met with the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the country Abdullah Mohamed Al-Mowed, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting AzerTac.
Minister Teymur Musayev hailed the successful development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Kuwait in a variety of fields. The minister also stressed the importance of high-level reciprocal visits in the development of relations between the two countries.
According to Musayev, there is great potential for enhancing bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Kuwait in the field of healthcare.
The minister emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev places great importance on the development of national healthcare.
Noting that Azerbaijan will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change – COP29 this November, the minister said: “President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that the decision to hold COP29 in Azerbaijan with the unanimous support of the international community is a manifestation of great trust in the country.”
Abdullah Mohamed Al-Mowed praised the high level of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kuwait, noting that the two countries enjoy historically longstanding friendly relations.
The ambassador expressed his country’s desire to expand its medical research and healthcare collaboration with Azerbaijan.
The meeting also highlighted the significance of medical education, professional training, and sharing experience between medical universities and national healthcare institutions.
