CBA currency exchange rates (13.05.2024)


According to the official exchange rates of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan for today, the US dollar remained unchanged at 1.7000 manat, the euro decreased by 0.02% to 1.8312 manat, and the Russian ruble went down by 0.5% to 0.0184 manat.

Czech defense spending in 2023 amounted to 1.37% of GDP, which corresponds to approximately 101 billion crowns (about $4.8 billion), the Defense Ministry of the Czech Republic said, Report informs via ČTK news agency.

Legal Committee Votes in Favor of Agents’ Bill in Minutes, Without Opposition Present


On May 13, the Legal Committee of the Parliament voted in third and final hearing for the adoption of the Foreign Agents Law against the background of the overnight protests of the citizens against the law. The deliberations of the committee lasted mere 55 seconds without the majority of the opposition MPs, who were not allowed to enter the Parliament by the police.

The Committee meeting was attended by only few of the Georgian Dream MPs. Anri Okhanashvili, the Committee Chair, started the voting process before the MPs were even able to sit down. The whole process lasted for seconds.

Meanwhile, multiple detentions of peaceful protesters are being reported, as well as cases of police brutality.

The GD majority plans to adopt the law, in its third and final hearing, during the plenary session scheduled for May 14.

France welcones talks between Armenian, Azerbaijani FMs held in Almaty


France welcomes the new session of negotiations held between the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers on May 10 and 11 in Almaty, tge French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“France underlines the importance of the reaffirmation by the Parties of their committment to the Almaty declaration of 1991, to the mutual recognition of their territorial integrity, as a basis for this process, in line with the quadrilateral meeting in Prague of October 7, 2022,” the Ministry stated.

In this context, France calls to continue the delimitation of the border on the basis of the principles agreed in the declaration of April 19, 2024 and as an extension of the first demarcation work carried out on the ground. At the same time, it calls for continuing discussions with a view to signing a peace treaty between the two countries.

It welcome the initiative of the Kazakh authorities to facilitate the holding of these talks.

France will continue to work, alongside its partners, to establish a just and lasting peace in the South Caucasus, in compliance with international law.
