Armenia continues with policy of peace with Azerbaijan based on three principles – PM

The Government of Armenia continues the policy of concluding a peace treaty with Azerbaijan, implementation of demarcation and delimitation on the basis of three principles, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a press conference today.

First, he said, Armenia and Azerbaijan should recognize each other’s territorial integrity based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration.

“Second, the Alma-Ata Declaration serves as a political basis for delimitation and demarcation between the two countries, which means that there is no agenda of creating a new border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. It needs to be reflected on the ground based on the de jure administrative borders of the countries after the collapse of the Soviet Union, which became a state border under the Alma-Ata Declaration,” PM Pashinyan said.

“Third, regional communications should be unblocked on the basis of the the principles of sovereignty, equality and reciprocity. We have reflected our vision of this in the draft peace treaty,” he added.
