In Memory of Yeretsgeen Lucine (Baghdassarian) Daghlian

Yeretsgeen Lucine (Baghdassarian) Daghlian, wife of the late Archpriest Father Arshag Daghlian, passed away on Thursday, January 25. She is survived by four of her children, Sonia, John, Houry, Nora and Richard Sarajian (the late Aida Chareth predeceased her), as well as seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Valentine Bilezikian, Mary Kassabian and Hagop Baghdassarian.

Yn. Lucine was born in Aleppo, Syria, to Emmanuel and Satenig Baghdassarian on August 3, 1925. She graduated from Aleppo College and then married Ardashes Daghlian, who afterwards moved to Beirut to be ordained into the holy priesthood as Rev. Fr. Arshag Daghlian. Der Arshag and Yn. Lucine were among the pioneering servants of the Eastern Prelacy. They served for approximately three years at St. Paul Church, in Waukegan, and West Pullman, both in Illinois.  Later, Rev. Fr. Arshag was transferred to North Andover, Massachusetts, where they served as the first Pastor and Yeretsgeen at St. Gregory Church for 15 years. They hosted Easter Communion breakfasts for the community every year. Yn. Lucine served in the various church choirs, the Armenian Relief Society, the National Association of Ladies Guilds and as chairwoman of St. Gregory Church’s Ladies Guild.

After Der Arshag retired, Yn. Lucine became a member of St. Stephen’s Church in Watertown, Massachusetts, and continued to serve her church and the Prelacy. She was one of the original Pillars of the Prelacy and supported numerous Prelacy events, fundraisers and the Orphans Program. She was one of the godmothers of the 2001 Muronorhnek (Blessing of the Holy Oil) and took gifts for all the orphans and students at the Bird’s Nest orphanage.  As a role model for the new Yeretsgeens, she offered council and advice. She provided the concept of “College Care” packages for students at St. Stephen’s Church to keep the recently graduated Sunday School Students connected to the church. At the National Representative Assembly of 2013, former Prelate Archbishop Oshagan Choloyan bestowed the honor of Mother of the Year upon her.

The funeral service, presided by His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan Tanielian, was held at St. Stephen’s Church in Watertown, on Wednesday, January 31, followed by interment at West Parish Garden Cemetery, Andover, MA.

Memorial gifts may be made to St. Stephen’s Church or The Armenian Apostolic Church of America, 138 East 39th Street, New York, New York.

May God illuminate her soul and give comfort to her family, relatives and friends.

The FBI Worship in the High Church for the true mediocre

The #FBI WORSHIP by the fat-ass converts. The FBI is their God, their robotic lives, and their parasitic livelihood. It is their “HIGH CHURCH”, in Norman Mailer words; for their nourishment and indoctrination; until they easily betray it for the better feeds, because it is just… pic.twitter.com/SycT5VX1Dc

Russian MFA Warns Citizens of “Increased Security Risks” of Visiting Abkhazia

On February 16, the Russian Foreign Ministry warned its citizens of “the increased security risks” of visiting the occupied region of Abkhazia following the decision by the de-facto Supreme Court of Abkhazia to grant early release to an inhabitant of the region sentenced to nine years for the rape with extreme cruelty of a Russian tourist in 2019.

The Russian MFA wrote on its Telegram channel that the Russian side received the news about the release of Edgar Abukhba on February 2 with “extreme bewilderment”. The Ministry expressed criticism for commuting the sentence, noting that this high-profile case “shows a very lenient attitude” of the [so-called] Abkhazian judiciary towards crimes committed in Abkhazia and “the punishments imposed on the perpetrators.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns Russian citizens of increased security risks, stating: “Obviously, this creates risks for the safety of a large number of foreign guests who visit Abkhazian resorts every year, and we have to warn our compatriots about this.”

On February 18, the press service of the so-called supreme court of Abkhazia responded to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement by clarifying that the defendant was a minor when he committed the crime, so his punishment could not exceed 10 years of imprisonment and he was sentenced to 9 years.

The same source also said that the sentence was not commuted. The source allegedly explained that there are no colonies in Abkhazia, only pre-trial detention centers. Because of this, the term of imprisonment under the general regime is counted “one to two”, under the strict regime – “two to three” – according to a separate law, which operates at the stage of execution of the sentence. The source “did not rule out” that this is the reason that Abukhba, whose sentence was counted from August 2, 2019 had been released having had to serve 4.5. our of nine years.

Recently, Russian-Abkhazian relations have been strained. The opposition and some non-governmental organizations have put the blame on the de-facto authorities of the region and called on the de-facto leader of the occupied region, Aslan Bzhania to step down.
