Officials in Kazakhstan have denied a report by investigative media outlet Verstka alleging that Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska bought a business jet from a Kazakh airline as a way of circumventing Western sanctions.

The US private Moon mission launched on Monday has run into technical problems, the BBC reports.
The Astrobotic company behind the project says its Peregrine spacecraft has experienced an “anomaly” that has stopped it from pointing its solar panels stably at the Sun.
Without the ability to charge batteries and maintain a power supply, the mission won’t be able to proceed.
Astrobotic said engineers were working on the issue and will provide updates when it has more information.
The 1.2-tonne lander was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on a Vulcan rocket.
It is aiming to become the first American mission in half a century to make a soft landing on the Moon – first commercial endeavour to do so.
The US space agency has purchased capacity on the lander for five instruments to study the lunar environment ahead of sending astronauts later this decade.

Greeting the ambassadors from throughout the globe accredited to the Holy See on Monday, 8 January 2024, he expressed deep concern about the escalating conflicts worldwide and described the current state of affairs as a “third world war fought piecemeal” openly addressing specific geopolitical crises.
The Pope recalled almost two years of large-scale war between Russia and Ukraine that has resulted in “great numbers of victims and massive destruction” and the situation in the South Caucasus between Armenia and Azerbaijan, with the dramatic situation of refugees.
In both instances, he called for negotiations, in respect for international law and for religious diversity.
