The Armenian Police have provided clarification regarding the incident involving Welsh football fans.
According to Police, on November 18, at approximately 1:18 a.m., a report was received by the operational control center of the Police regarding an argument and fight on Pushkin Street.
On the same day, at 1:39 a.m. and 1:43 a.m., the operational control center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received reports that several individuals were assaulting a citizen near the statue of Aram Khachaturian.
Officers dispatched to the scene reported an altercation between Welsh rung football fans near 43 Pushkin Street. According to Police, they were drunk and rudely violated public order, engaging in physical altercations that resulted in injuries. The quarrel then continued at the intersection of Mashtots and Sayat-Nova avenues.
Fifteen Welsh nationals and one citizen of New Guinea were arrested and transferred to the police division on suspicion of hooliganism.
Another 16 individuals were arrested for being in a public place under the influence of alcohol and then released.
The Police note that participants in the incident disseminated information through the media, much of which does not correspond to reality. It strongly urges against publication of unverified and inaccurate information.
The Armenian men’s national team won the bronze of the European Team Chess Championship, the Armenian Chess Federation informs.
In the last round, GM Shant Sargsyan scored an important victory over GM Michael Adams, ensuing a victory over England with a score of 2.5-1.5.
Serbia became the winner of the championship, Germany claimed the silver.
The Armenian women’s team took the 11th place.
Our chess players also won medals on their boards. GM Samvel Ter-Sahakyan won a bronze medal on the 5th board. GM Elina Danielian won a bronze medal on the 3rd board in the women’s championship.
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition has kicked off in Baku, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting AzerTac.

“In recent times, a number of biased resolutions have been adopted against Azerbaijan. The US Senate also adopted such a document,” said Speaker Sahiba Gafarova as she addressed a meeting of the Parliament, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting AzerTac.
She noted that the act of the Senate claims that Armenians, who voluntarily left the region, were forced to leave.
“It runs contrary to the resolutions of the UN and other international organizations,” Sahiba Gafarova added.
