Russia and Azerbaijan strengthen cooperation in the energy sector


Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikail Jabbarov discussed issues of expanding cooperation in the oil and gas, electric power and the development of renewable energy sources in Moscow on October 31, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting Turan, citing a message on the website of the Government of the Russian Federation.

The growing trade turnover between the countries was noted. By the end of 2022, the volume of mutual trade increased by 25%. In January – August 2023, the trade turnover increased by 15.7% compared to the same period last year.

“The largest Russian oil and gas concerns are working with Azerbaijan, which are ready to expand cooperation. In particular, there are a number of new initiatives for the transit and processing of Russian hydrocarbons at Azerbaijani facilities. The task is to consolidate our efforts,” Alexander Novak said.

During the talks, the participation of Russian oil and gas companies in new production projects on the territory of Azerbaijan, the expansion of their fuel sales business in Azerbaijan, including the expansion of reverse supplies of Russian oil through the Tikhoretsk-Baku oil pipeline, were also discussed.

Prospects of technological cooperation between Russian and Azerbaijani companies within the framework of import substitution policy were also discussed.

Speaker of Korean National Assembly: Azerbaijan makes significant efforts to bring peace to the region


As part of her official visit to the Republic of Korea, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with the country’s Speaker of the National Assembly Kim Jin-pyo, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting AzerTac.

During the meeting, Kim Jin-pyo expressed his confidence that this visit would contribute to the further development of relations between the two countries.

The sides emphasized that economic cooperation occupies an important place in the two countries’ relations.

The parties hailed the steadily increasing trade turnover between the two countries, highlighting the great potential for further strengthening and diversification of economic cooperation.

Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova noted that there are ample opportunities to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in various formats.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova said about 200 Azerbaijani students are currently studying in Korea, adding that there are different international student exchange and dual degree programs between Azerbaijani and Korean universities.

During the conversation, the sides stressed the importance of developing relations in humanitarian area, and discussed the issues of cooperation in the fields of education, science and culture.

The two praised the cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments over the past 2 years and exchanged views on further expansion of relations in this field.

The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest at the meeting.

Baku will host the 9th International Book Fair


The 9th edition of the Baku International Book Fair organized by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture will be conducted at the Baku Expo Center, on November 11-15, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting AzerTac.

The Fair to mark the centennial anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev registered more than 30 foreign organizations from 11 countries, 109 local publishing houses as well as bookstores and cultural centers.

The event will bring together People`s writers and poets of Azerbaijan, young writers, as well as famous foreign writers and actors.

The Book Fair is a unique opportunity for participants to demonstrate and sell their printed products, to negotiate and sign lucrative contracts with both local and foreign publishers and authors, including national publishing and printing companies.

The event will also feature master classes for children and adults, book presentations, autograph days, poetry hours, conferences and etc.

During the exhibition, more than 220 events in various formats are scheduled to be held.

Turkiye`s internationally recognized writers, historians, scientists and actors will participate in the exhibition as well.
