The international situation has significantly worsened in the last two years, the possibility of a nuclear war has become a serious topic of discussion among experts and politicians, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during the preliminary discussion of the draft state budget for FY 2024.
“We are living in the conditions of the collapse of the world order established on earth since the end of the Cold War. This situation creates threats for Armenia, but competent management of these threats can create equally serious opportunities for our state,” said Pashinyan.
The Prime Minister considers it crucial to adjust the conceptual foundations of statehood in a changing world by adopting conceptual guidelines.
“Adjusting the conceptual foundations of our statehood is key to ensuring our competitiveness and vitality in a changing world,” said the Prime Minister.
Pashinyan considered this to be one of the most important parts of the government’s and his personal work.
“And the five-year experience of my prime ministership, full of public happiness and tragedies, has led me to the following conceptual formulation, which I want to propose as a state conceptual guideline. That guideline is as follows: “Motherland is the state, if you love your motherland, strengthen your state.” This wording or slogan derives from the thesis, perhaps, from the perception that during the 32 years of our independence, our key problem was the existing and continuously increasing tension between the interests of the state and the motherland, a choice between the state and the motherland,” he said.
“However, no matter how impossible the choice, it must be made. And at the moment of making that choice comes the most important realization that the state is the only and irreplaceable homeland and the state, its independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, establishing and developing institutions, contributing to that cause is the highest degree of patriotism,” Pashinyan emphasized.
