Canada pulls out 41 diplomats from India over Diplomatic Row

Canada withdraws 41 diplomats from India amid deepening spat The move comes after New Delhi told Ottawa it will remove diplomatic immunity by October 20

Canada has announced that it will withdraw 41 of its diplomats from India by October 20, in response to India’s decision to strip them of their diplomatic immunity. The move is the latest escalation in a diplomatic row that has soured relations between the two countries.

The dispute began in September, when India accused Canada of interfering in its internal affairs by supporting the farmers’ protests that have been ongoing since November 2020. India claimed that Canada was providing financial and logistical support to some of the protesters, who are demanding the repeal of three farm laws that they say will hurt their livelihoods and benefit large corporations.

Turkey erupts in massive protests against Israel’s attacks on Gaza

Thousands of people in Turkey have taken to the streets to express their solidarity with the Palestinians and their anger at Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza, which have killed thousands of civilians.

The protests, which started on Tuesday after a hospital in Gaza was bombed, have spread to more than 20 cities across Turkey, including Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, Adana, Malatya, and Diyarbakir. The demonstrators waved Palestinian flags, burned Israeli flags and effigies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and chanted slogans such as “Free Palestine”, “Down with Israel” and “Murderer Israel, get out of Palestine”.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Israel of committing “genocide” against the Palestinians and called for an international intervention to stop the bloodshed.
