The EU strongly supports Armenia and its humanitarian needs, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said upon her arrival at the summit of the European Political Society in Granada, Spain.
“We have already allocated 5.2 million euros. I will tell Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today that we doubled this amount to 10.4 million and that we are providing 15 million euros of direct budget support, and we will discuss what else we can do to support Armenia in this difficult situation,” von der Leyen stated.
President of the European Commission reminded that immediately after Azerbaijan launched a military operation against Nagorno Karabakh, the European Union condemned it and called strongly to resume dialogue to reach a peaceful solution.
“This is what we are working on, and it’s important for us to support Armenia,” she stated.
